Ziwe interview ex-Congressman George Santos: What happened
Former GOP congressman George Santos was interviewed by satirical host Ziwe, where he asked to be paid and made controversial comments.
Ziwe is a well-known figure for her viral and uncomfortable interviews, and she recently interviewed Chet Hanks, Andrew Yang, Adam Pally, and Emily Ratajkowski. After being expelled from the U.S. House, George Santos was invited by Ziwe for an interview, to which he agreed.
During the interview, several noteworthy things occurred. Firstly, Santos asked to be paid for the interview three times, despite a disclaimer that no Congressmen were paid for the interview. He also walked back his comparison of himself to Rosa Parks, admitting that he could never measure up to her and that he used her story as an analogy.
Santos also accused all members of Congress of being fraudulent, including former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy and GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham. He refuted past claims tying him to historic tragedies, such as the Pulse Nightclub shooting, 9/11, and the Holocaust, and stated that his mother did not die in 9/11, despite previous claims.
When asked what could be done to get him to go away, Santos expressed a desire to continue appearing in mainstream media, stating that people want the content. Despite the controversy surrounding him, Santos' cartoonish persona makes him an appealing target for satire, and it seems that he is not going anywhere anytime soon.
