Browns Update Scary Elijah Moore Injury, Amari Cooper Status
The Cleveland Browns lost two key wide receivers to injury in their win against the New York Jets on Thursday.
The Cleveland Browns faced the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football without their star wide receiver, Amari Cooper, and then lost their No. 2 receiver, Elijah Moore, to a scary head injury.
Coach Kevin Stefanski provided injury updates on both players, but the news was not very positive or certain. Moore spent the night in the hospital and is now at home, in concussion protocol. Stefanski expressed relief that Moore is back home and said, "Those are always scary, as we all know."
Moore left the game after his head hit the turf during a play, resulting in involuntary movements. Before his exit, he caught five passes for 61 yards and scored a touchdown against his former team. Stefanski praised Moore's performance and said he was proud of him.
Cooper missed the game with a heel injury, which gave Moore a chance to shine in the national spotlight. However, Stefanski said that it is difficult to know how players will perform on short weeks and that Cooper was unable to play despite his efforts. Stefanski emphasized the importance of rest for Cooper and said they would see how he is doing next week.
Head injuries like the one Moore suffered can be dangerous and may take longer to recover from. The Browns may have no reason to play either wide receiver in their final game of the season against the Cincinnati Bengals, as they have already secured a playoff spot. This will give them a chance to get healthy and prepare for the playoffs.
The Browns have a chance to win their second playoff game under Stefanski's tenure and will be looking to get healthy as they head into Wildcard Weekend.
