Katt Williams alleges Cedric The Entertainer stole joke
Katt Williams claims Cedric The Entertainer stole his joke in a new interview, sparking a feud between the two comedians.
During a recent podcast interview, Katt Williams renewed his claim that Cedric The Entertainer allegedly stole one of his jokes. Williams, who is 52 years old, appeared on the Club Shay Shay podcast with host Shannon Sharpe, 55, and responded to Cedric, 59, who previously denied stealing the joke.
According to Williams, the joke in question was used in the 2000 comedy special The Original Kings Of Comedy. He claimed that Cedric thought he was a no-name comedian and could take the joke without anyone noticing. However, Williams had already performed the joke twice on BET's ComicView and it had done so well that it was even featured in a commercial.
Williams emphasized the significance of the joke, stating that it was his best and last joke. He recalled that Cedric had watched him perform the joke in 1998, complimented him, and then two years later performed the same joke verbatim in The Original Kings of Comedy, with only a minor change.
Cedric responded to the allegations in the comments section of an Instagram post by Club Shay Shay, defending his career and denying the accusation. He also mentioned that he had previously responded to Williams, and after not receiving a response, had left the matter at that.
Williams also questioned Cedric's ability to write jokes, criticizing his comedy specials and their absence from popular streaming platforms.
The Original Kings Of Comedy was a stand-up comedy film featuring Cedric, Bernie Mac, D.L. Hughley, and Steve Harvey, directed by Spike Lee and released in August 2000. As the controversy continues, it remains to be seen how the situation will be resolved.
