Head coach Brian Daboll expressed his desire for defensive play-caller Wink Martindale to return for the 2024 season, despite reports of friction between the two. However, other members of the coaching staff were not as fortunate. The Giants fired special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey, offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins, and defensive assistant Kevin Wilkins. Additionally, Martindale and the Giants parted ways, marking just one of many changes to the coaching staff.

With Martindale now available, the Giants are in search of a new defensive coordinator for the 2024 season. However, potential candidates may face uncertainty due to the possibility of sweeping changes in the near future. Despite this, there are three potential candidates who could replace Martindale and take on the challenge of coaching the Giants' defense in the upcoming season.
