After Cadillac Williams released a statement late Thursday evening declaring that he would be moving on, Etheridge joined him Friday morning. He expressed gratitude to the Auburn family for the last three years, stating that it has been a dream coaching at his alma mater. He also expressed excitement for the next chapter in his career and his confidence in the program flourishing under coach Freeze's leadership. Etheridge also thanked his players, emphasizing the honor and blessing it has been to develop Auburn men on and off the field while building lifelong relationships. He concluded by affirming his unwavering dedication to Auburn.
According to reports, Etheridge is reportedly heading to Houston. He has been at Auburn for the last three seasons, first hired by former coach Bryan Harsin in 2021. He, along with Williams, were the only two on-field assistants retained on Freeze's inaugural staff with the Tigers.
