Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander receiver Christian Watson active Cowboys wild-card game

LeRoy Butler wants Jaire Alexander to cover CeeDee Lamb and see if Mike McCarthy would stick with the running game.

The Green Bay Packers are gearing up for their playoff opener against the Dallas Cowboys, and they will have their top cornerback and receiver back in action. Jaire Alexander and Christian Watson, who were both sidelined last week, are active for the NFC wild-card round.

Christian Watson, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, will be making his first appearance since Week 13. He has been a key receiving threat for quarterback Jordan Love, and his return brings a big-play element to the Packers' passing game.

Jaire Alexander's return is equally significant, as he will be tasked with covering Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb. Keeping Lamb in check is a top priority for the Packers as they prepare to face the Cowboys' top-ranked offense.

Both Watson and Alexander were considered game-time decisions, but they have been given the green light to play after going through pregame workouts at AT&T Stadium. With Watson back in action, undrafted rookie Malik Heath will be inactive for the game, despite his contributions to the Packers' offense this season.

The Packers will be without backup running back AJ Dillon due to a stinger, so Aaron Jones will be relied upon to carry the run game. Jones, a native of El Paso, Texas, has a history of success against the Cowboys, having rushed for over 100 yards in four career games against them.

In addition to Dillon, cornerback David Long Jr., safety Benny Sapp III, outside linebacker Brenton Cox Jr., and offensive tackle Caleb Jones complete the Packers' inactive list for the playoff game.

As the Packers prepare to face the Cowboys, the return of key players like Watson and Alexander brings a level of confidence and depth to the team. With their top cornerback and receiver back in action, the Packers will be looking to make a strong statement in their playoff opener.
