Owner's dislike of Belicheat could impact playoff team's coach hunt, says radio host
"Philadelphia Eagles could be in the hunt for a new coach, but unlikely to pursue Bill Belichick, says radio host."
It seems that the Philadelphia Eagles may soon be in the market for a new coach, as rumors swirl about the potential departure of current head coach Nick Sirianni. However, one thing that Eagles fans shouldn't expect is the team pursuing former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
According to Philly radio host Howard Eskin, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is not a fan of Belichick. Eskin stated on 94.7 WIP that he knows for a fact that Lurie is not a big fan of Belichick, and that he is not the guy that Lurie is looking for to lead the Eagles.
This news comes at a time when Sirianni's job security is under scrutiny following the team's disappointing playoff performance. After a strong start to the season, the Eagles faltered and ultimately lost in the first round of the playoffs. Despite the mounting pressure, Sirianni has expressed that he is more concerned about the well-being of the organization and his players than his own job security.
If Lurie's reported feelings about Belichick are indeed accurate, it would eliminate a potential landing spot for the legendary coach, who is likely looking for a team in win-now mode as he aims to break the all-time NFL wins record held by Don Shula. Belichick has already interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons and has been linked to the Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboys.
As the coaching carousel continues to turn in the NFL, it will be interesting to see where Belichick ultimately lands and how the Eagles move forward in their search for a new leader.
