Syracuse basketball win Pittsburgh Saturday night film session much-needed
Syracuse basketball team returns to Syracuse after an embarrassing loss. They bounce back with a win over Pittsburgh.
The Syracuse basketball team returned to Syracuse on Saturday after a 103-67 loss to North Carolina. The players and coaches watched the game film and felt the pain of the defeat. They used the memory of the loss as motivation to defeat the Pittsburgh Panthers 69-58. The team played with an efficiency that had been lacking on Saturday. They connected on 10 of 17 3-point shots and seven different players made at least one three. Syracuse coach Adrian Autry called it "one of our more complete games of the year." The win improved the Orange's record to 12-5 overall and 3-3 in the conference. It was Syracuse's first ACC road win and the first regular season Quad 1 win since the 2020-21 season. The game was about growth and how a young team with a first-year coach dealt with loss. Syracuse guard JJ Starling said the players walked onto the practice court on Sunday with a determined mentality. Despite the Saturday night film study and the players' next-game mantra, there was no guarantee that Syracuse was going to enter the Pete and get this much-needed win over the Panthers. Starling said, "Pitt's a really good team and to be able to beat them on their home court is a big confidence boost for us."
