Brock Purdy Remembers 49ers Attempting to Replace Him with Tom Brady Before Season

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had a rocky start but ultimately led his team to victory over the Green Bay Packers. However, head coach Kyle Shanahan had his sights set on Tom Brady as the team's starting quarterback for the season.

Purdy revealed that Shanahan had expressed interest in pursuing Brady, even guaranteeing him the starting position unless Brady decided to come out of retirement and join the team. Purdy acknowledged Brady's status as the greatest of all time but also felt a sense of validation for his own abilities within the team's system.

It's a testament to Purdy's resilience and determination, especially considering the 49ers' pursuit of Brady. While the team ultimately didn't secure Brady, Purdy's performance has been commendable, with the exception of a challenging game against the Baltimore Ravens. The 49ers' consistent appearances in the conference title game are impressive, but the lack of Super Bowl victories since 1994 is a glaring issue. Pursuing Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion, was a logical move for the team. However, with Purdy at the helm, the 49ers have another opportunity to break their championship drought.
