British actor Tom Hollander mistakenly sent seven-figure bonus for Tom Holland
Tom Hollander describes "terrible moment" when agency sent him Tom Holland's bonus payment details, mistaking him for "enormously famous" actor.
The 56-year-old actor, Tom Hollander, recently shared a humorous and somewhat embarrassing story about a mix-up that occurred when he briefly shared an agency with fellow actor Tom Holland. Hollander described the mix-up as a "terrible moment" during an interview on the US talk show Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Hollander explained that because Holland was "enormously famous," people would often mistake him for Holland in "non-visual contexts." The mix-up occurred when the accounts department at their agency accidentally sent an email containing the payment details for Holland's first bonus from The Avengers to Hollander.
The actor humorously recounted how he had been feeling smug about his own financial situation while watching a friend perform in a play in England. However, his smugness quickly disappeared when he received the email from the agency revealing the astonishing amount of money that was actually meant for Holland, not him.
Despite the mix-up, Hollander joked that "that's showbiz." The actor, known for his roles in Pride and Prejudice, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the recent series The White Lotus, is set to star as writer Truman Capote in the upcoming Hulu drama Feud: Capote vs. the Swans.
The mix-up serves as a humorous anecdote in the actor's career, highlighting the unpredictable nature of show business and the amusing moments that can occur along the way.
