Former WWE employee alleges sex trafficking by Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis, seeking to hold WWE executives accountable for victimizing women.
A shocking lawsuit has been filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant, alleging that she was sex trafficked by the company's co-founder Vince McMahon. The lawsuit, filed in US District Court for the District of Connecticut, names McMahon and former head of talent relations John Laurinaitis as defendants. It includes allegations of sex trafficking, civil battery, infliction of emotional distress, and negligence against the WWE.
Grant's lawyer, Ann Callis of Holland Law Firm, emphasized that the lawsuit aims to hold the executives and WWE accountable. Grant, a private and courageous individual, hopes that her lawsuit will prevent other women from being victimized. The lawsuit details disturbing claims of McMahon using Grant to entice wrestling talent and pressuring her to engage in sex acts. It also alleges that McMahon sent sexually explicit materials of Grant to WWE employees and a world-famous athlete.
The lawsuit also claims that McMahon forced Grant to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to prevent legal consequences and reputational ruin. Her lawyers are seeking to have the NDA declared invalid. McMahon, who co-founded WWE in 1980 and served on the board of directors until September 2023, has been the executive chairman of WWE's parent company TKO Group Holdings since then. Laurinaitis, on the other hand, left the company in 2022.
The lawsuit has garnered attention and WWE and TKO Group have been contacted for a response. The allegations are deeply troubling and raise serious questions about the treatment of women in the wrestling industry. Grant's courage in coming forward with her story serves as a reminder of the importance of holding powerful individuals and organizations accountable for their actions.
