The Calgary Flames bested the Boston Bruins 4-1 on Tuesday night, with Andrei Kuzmenko scoring in his debut for Calgary. Nazem Kadri also had a strong showing, contributing three assists to the victory. Jonathan Huberdeau and Connor Zary also scored for the Flames, who effectively shut down the Bruins, holding them to just five shots in the second period.
Calgary's Jacob Markstrom made 21 saves, while Boston native Noah Hanifin added a late goal for the Flames. The Bruins managed to score once, with Pavel Zacha netting a power-play goal early in the third period. David Pastrnak assisted on Zacha's goal, and Jeremy Swayman made 25 saves for Boston.
Kuzmenko, who joined the Flames less than a week earlier, made an immediate impact, scoring a power-play goal in the first period. Kadri also played a key role, adding two assists, one of which led to a goal by Zary.
The Flames played the majority of the game down a forward after Martin Pospisil was ejected for a cross-check on Boston captain Brad Marchand. Despite this, Calgary dominated the second period, outshooting Boston 9-5. The Bruins didn't get another power-play opportunity until early in the third period, but they capitalized on a 5-on-3 when Zacha scored, bringing the score to 2-1. However, Huberdeau quickly extended the Flames' lead with another goal.
Looking ahead, the Flames will visit the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night, while the Bruins will host the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night. For more NHL news, visit the AP NHL website.
