The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2024 nominees for induction, and the list is filled with musical legends from a wide range of genres. From Mary J. Blige and Mariah Carey to Cher, Lenny Kravitz, and the late Sinéad O'Connor, the nominees represent a diverse array of talent. Also included are heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne, who is being recognized as a solo artist after previously being inducted with Black Sabbath, and pop-soul sensation Sade, along with Britpop favorites Oasis.

These artists have all left an indelible mark on the music industry, creating sounds that have influenced generations and inspired countless others. With 10 of the 15 nominees appearing on the ballot for the first time, there is a fresh energy and excitement surrounding this year's induction process. Notably, Sade, whose smooth rock hits defined the 1980s, continues to be celebrated after her recent induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The inclusion of powerhouse female artists like Carey, Blige, and Cher is also significant, as it reflects a push to increase the representation of women in the hall. With Carey's record-breaking 19 No. 1 hits, Blige's impressive discography, and Cher's six-decade spanning career, their induction would be a historic moment for the hall.

In order to be eligible for induction, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the ceremony. The induction ceremony is set to take place in Cleveland this fall, where the final inductees will be announced. The nominees will be voted on by a panel of over 1,000 artists, historians, and music industry professionals, as well as by fans who can cast their votes online or in person at the museum.

Last year's inductees included Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson, and Sheryl Crow, among others, showcasing the hall's commitment to recognizing a diverse range of talent.
