Fans speculate Beyoncé and Lady Gaga collaboration in the works
Beyoncé drops two new country songs during Super Bowl ad, hints at upcoming album with teaser trailer and possible Lady Gaga collab.
Verizon's Bey-themed Super Bowl commercial confirmed the rumors of Beyoncé dropping Renaissance: Act II to be entirely true, as the 32-time Grammy winner released two brand-new country songs during the game. Additionally, Bey released a teaser trailer for her upcoming album, set to hit streaming services on March 29.
The teaser clip features a vintage yellow taxi driving through the desert, likely located in Texas, Bey's home state. Longtime fans quickly noticed that the set was reminiscent of the video for her Lady Gaga collaboration, "Telephone," which famously included a "To Be Continued" message 14 years ago. Fans voiced their theories about the potential connection on social media.
Gaga, who was also in attendance at the Super Bowl, posted a picture from the stands throwing up a peace sign, leading fans to theorize that her involvement in Renaissance: Act II or a sequel to their 2010 collaboration. This potential collaboration would mark the third official collab between the pop culture powerhouses, as Beyoncé previously recruited Gaga for a remix of her 2009 track, "Video Phone," before they teamed up again for "Telephone."
The "Telephone" music video, directed by Jonas Åckerlund, was influenced by the Wild West genre and included references to Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill films. The song peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2010, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a sequel to the iconic music video ever since.
