Sacha Baron Cohen Isla Fisher divorce announcement
Actors Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher announce separation after 20 years together. Rebel Wilson also accuses Cohen of misconduct.
After two decades of being together, actors Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher have officially announced their separation, which actually occurred last year. The news was shared on their Instagram stories, with a joint statement saying, "In 2023, we filed together to end our marriage." The couple first started dating in 2001 and got married in 2003. Throughout their marriage, they also collaborated on screen, notably in the comedy film Brothers Grimsby.
This announcement comes on the heels of actor Rebel Wilson's memoir, Rebel Rising, where she delves into her discomfort working with Cohen on set. Wilson played Cohen's character's girlfriend in the film and accused him of bullying her during production. She claimed that Cohen made her feel self-conscious about her weight, even going as far as to dress her in clothes that accentuated her figure. Wilson also alleged that Cohen mocked her because of her size.
These allegations escalated to claims of sexual misconduct, with Wilson revealing that Cohen pressured her to film a scene completely nude and expressed his desire for it. Feeling scared and uncomfortable, Wilson improvised lines and even resorted to slapping Cohen on the backside to diffuse the situation.
Despite these recent controversies, the couple has asked for privacy during this time, emphasizing that they have always valued their privacy and are handling this change quietly. They reiterated their unwavering love and commitment to their children.
While Cohen has faced backlash in the past for his performances, especially in films like Borat! and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, where he was criticized for racial stereotypes, he has denied all allegations against him, including those related to his separation from Fisher.
