Watch live coverage of the 2024 solar eclipse on FOX 35 until 5 p.m. NASA unveils Eclipse Explorer tool for visualization.
The much-anticipated 2024 solar eclipse is approaching, set to darken the skies across a wide swath of North America on Monday, April 8. NASA has introduced the Eclipse Explorer, an online tool that allows users to visualize how the upcoming eclipse will look from their specific location by simply entering their zip code. This tool provides a countdown to the peak eclipse viewing time, along with current weather conditions such as temperature, rain chances, and cloud cover.
The eclipse will begin in Mexico before making its way through the United States, starting in Texas and passing through states such as Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. In Orlando, Florida, the eclipse will commence at 1:46 p.m. and reach its peak at 3:03 p.m. with an expected 57% coverage (partial solar eclipse) before ending around 4:15 p.m.
While there may be some high clouds that could occasionally obstruct the view, it is still expected to be a spectacular event. It is crucial to remember not to look directly at the sun during the eclipse and to use special glasses for safe viewing. Stay tuned for more updates and enjoy this rare celestial phenomenon!
