2025 Toyota 4Runner Leaked: New Turbo I4 and Hybrid Setup Boosts SUV to 326 HP
Forbes accidentally leaks details about the 2025 Toyota 4Runner, including new hybrid options, improved towing capacity, and off-road features.
Toyota has revealed the highly anticipated 2025 Toyota 4Runner, showcasing a blend of Tacoma styling cues and Land Cruiser 250 series features. The new 4Runner offers a turbocharged four-pot hybrid engine, delivering impressive power with 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque for the standard model, and 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque for the i-FORCE MAX hybrid.
Towing capacity has been increased to 6,000 pounds, aligning with the Land Cruiser 250 series, while the V6-powered Lexus GX 550 boasts an impressive 8,000-pound capacity. The 4Runner comes with rear-wheel drive, part-time 4WD, and full-time 4WD options, each equipped with a two-speed transfer case and advanced differential systems for enhanced off-road performance.
The all-new 4Runner features a larger body, offering increased interior space and improved comfort for passengers. However, the longer overhangs have slightly reduced the approach and departure angles compared to the previous generation. The Trailhunter grade has been added for rock crawling enthusiasts, featuring unique design elements and performance upgrades for tackling challenging terrain.
Inside the cabin, the 2025 4Runner shares similarities with the 2024 Toyota Tacoma, including a modern steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, and infotainment system. The tailgate window can be lowered for added convenience, paying homage to the classic design of previous models.
While pricing details have not yet been released, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner is expected to hit the market in the fall of 2024. With a combination of rugged performance, advanced technology, and versatile design, the new 4Runner is set to impress off-road enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike.
