Eminem Disses Megan Thee Stallion, R Kelly on Houdini
Eminem's controversial new single "Houdini" takes aim at Megan Thee Stallion, R. Kelly, and modern society, teasing upcoming album release.
American rap icon Marshall Mathers, better known as Eminem, has stirred up controversy with his latest single "Houdini," where he takes aim at fellow artists Megan Thee Stallion and R. Kelly.
The track, which cleverly samples Eminem's own hit "Without Me," sees the rapper making light of Megan Thee Stallion's unfortunate shooting incident in 2020 by Tory Lanez, where she sustained bullet fragments in her feet.
Over a playful beat that also samples the Steve Miller Band's "Abracadabra," Eminem delivers lines poking fun at the situation, such as, "If I was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me, would I really have a shot at a feet?"
The wordplay continues as Eminem references R. Kelly and the infamous leaked sex tape scandal, humorously mentioning, "In the coupe, leaning back my seat, bumpin' R. Kelly's favorite group, the black guy pees," a clever play on words with the Black Eyed Peas.
In addition to his witty wordplay, Eminem also addresses societal issues like cancel culture and gender identity, showcasing his unfiltered and controversial style. He raps about hitting an eight-year-old with a participation trophy and humorously mentions his transgender cat identifying as black but acting Chinese.
The music video for "Houdini" features Eminem in his iconic Rap Boy superhero outfit from the "Without Me" video, battling his alter ego Slim Shady in a comic book-style showdown. The two eventually combine to create a hybrid "monster" that pushes the boundaries even further.
Directed by Rich Lee, the video includes appearances from Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and other famous faces, adding to the visual spectacle. Actor and comedian Pete Davidson also makes a cameo, riding in a car with Eminem, while the rapper's children briefly appear towards the end.
"Houdini" serves as the lead single from Eminem's upcoming 12th album "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)," set to release this summer, promising more of the provocative and thought-provoking content that fans have come to expect from the rap legend.
