Kamilla Cardoso Chicago Sky debut Saturday vs Caitlin Clark Indiana Fever

Rookie Kamilla Cardoso set to make WNBA debut against Indiana Fever, facing off against former teammate Aliyah Boston. Excitement builds.

Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso is set to finally step onto the WNBA court this Saturday as her team takes on the Indiana Fever in what promises to be one of the most highly-anticipated matchups of the season.

This game will mark the first meeting between rookie sensations Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark in the WNBA. Just a few months ago, Clark led the Iowa Hawkeyes to victory over Reese's LSU squad in the 2024 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight. The year before, Reese and LSU had defeated Clark and Iowa in the 2023 championship game.

Cardoso, like Reese, has also faced off against Clark on the college basketball stage. In a 2023 Final Four showdown, Clark put up an impressive 41 points, eight assists, and six rebounds to end Cardoso and South Carolina's perfect season.

However, Cardoso and the Gamecocks got their redemption this past season by defeating Iowa in the 2024 title game. Cardoso's 15 points and 17 rebounds helped South Carolina secure an 87-75 victory to complete an unbeaten season.

Selected as the No. 3 pick in the recent WNBA Draft, Cardoso had to sit out the first six games of the season due to a shoulder injury sustained in a preseason match against the Minnesota Lynx. Despite her absence, the Sky have held their own with a 3-3 record.

Excitement is high for Cardoso's return to the court, with head coach Teresa Weatherspoon expressing her joy at seeing the talented center back in action. Standing at 6-foot-7, Cardoso will face off against her former teammate Aliyah Boston, who now plays for the Fever.

Although Clark has been impressive with an average of 17.6 points per game, the Fever have struggled to secure wins this season, entering the game against the Sky with a 1-8 record.
