The incident occurred during a team meeting at the Chiefs' training facility, where Thompson suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest. Initially, Pelissero did not disclose Thompson's identity, only mentioning that a backup defensive lineman was involved.

Sources later confirmed that Thompson was in stable condition following the emergency response by the Chiefs' medical staff. The team canceled practice on Thursday, and media availability with head coach Andy Reid and players was rescheduled for Friday.

The Chiefs are currently in OTA offseason practices, with mandatory minicamp scheduled for June 11 through June 13. Thompson's medical emergency occurred shortly after his visit to the White House with teammates Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
