Stanley Cup Finals: Panthers Delayed Scary Weather Flight Edmonton
Florida Panthers face weather delays en route to Stanley Cup Finals, but still hold 2-0 series lead over Edmonton Oilers.
The Florida Panthers are currently leading the Stanley Cup Finals with a 2-0 series advantage over the Edmonton Oilers. However, Mother Nature decided to throw a curveball their way as heavy storms in Fort Lauderdale caused a three-hour delay to their flight for Game 3. Despite the setback, the Panthers arrived in Edmonton at 8 p.m. locally, just 24 hours before the game was set to begin.
The delays didn't just affect the Panthers, as the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport also experienced cancellations and delays due to flooding on runways and nearby roads. On the other hand, the Oilers managed to leave shortly after their Game 2 loss.
Panthers head coach Paul Maurice explained that they didn't want to rush the team to Edmonton right after Game 2, as they didn't see the value in it. Additionally, the Panthers have been playing exclusively in the Eastern Time Zone for the past two months, making the shift to the Mountain Time Zone a significant adjustment.
With Game 3 being a must-win for the Oilers, they will need to bring their A-game and create chaos on the ice to turn the series around. Game 4 will also be held in Edmonton, giving them the opportunity to even the score. Despite the weather-related challenges, both teams are gearing up for an intense battle on the ice.
