Former UConn standout Donovan Clingan celebrates NBA Draft night with girlfriend Madeleine Ross, honoring late mother and coach Dan Hurley.

Donovan Clingan had a night to remember as he celebrated his big moment with his girlfriend, Madeleine Ross. The former UConn standout was selected seventh overall by the Trail Blazers in the 2024 NBA Draft, and he couldn't have been happier. Clingan, wearing a black tux, embraced Ross, who looked stunning in a red dress, inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The 7-foot-2 center paid tribute to his late mother with a personalized jacket, a touching gesture that showed his appreciation for her influence on his life. Clingan was joined by his former coach at UConn, Dan Hurley, who had recently turned down a lucrative offer from the Lakers to stay with the Huskies. The bond between Clingan and Hurley was evident, as the young player expressed his gratitude for their relationship and the impact his coach had on his career.

During his final season at UConn, Clingan put up impressive numbers, averaging 13 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. A native of Connecticut, Clingan expressed his deep appreciation for the support he has received from his home state throughout his career. He acknowledged the opportunities and love he has been given and expressed his desire to give back to the community that has supported him.

Looking ahead, Clingan is excited to begin his journey with the Trail Blazers in Portland. Despite the team's struggles in the previous season, Clingan is determined to make an impact and help lead the franchise to success. Ross, who has been by Clingan's side for years, shared her excitement for his future in a post on her Instagram Story from a pre-draft luncheon at the Rainbow Room.

Ross had previously celebrated Clingan's championship win with the Huskies in April, showing her unwavering support for her partner both on and off the court. As Clingan embarks on this new chapter in his career, he remains focused on reaching the highest level of success and being the best player and person he can be. With the love and support of his girlfriend, coach, and home state, Clingan is ready to take on whatever challenges come his way and make his mark in the NBA.
