Former Smallville actor Allison Mack released early from prison for NXIVM involvement.
Allison Mack, the former actor from the popular TV series Smallville and a prominent member of the notorious group NXIVM, has been released from prison earlier than expected, as stated in official U.S. federal records available online.
According to the documents from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Mack, who is now 40 years old, was released from prison on Monday. This comes after her guilty plea in 2019, where she admitted to several charges, including racketeering, as part of a sex-trafficking case that exposed her as a high-ranking member of NXIVM. Shockingly, it was revealed that Mack had manipulated women into becoming sex slaves for the group's leader, Keith Raniere, under the guise of spiritual enlightenment.
In June 2021, Mack was sentenced to three years in prison. However, she received a reduced sentence due to her cooperation with investigators in charging Raniere with creating a secret society that branded victims with his initials. Without her cooperation, Mack could have faced a prison term of over 17 years.
Neither Mack nor her lawyers have made any public comments regarding her early release.
Prior to her sentencing in 2021, Mack released a public statement expressing her sincere apologies to the victims. She acknowledged the gravity of her actions and the extent to which she had immersed herself in Raniere's teachings, believing that his guidance would lead her to personal growth and enlightenment. Mack deeply regretted her unwavering loyalty and the significant impact it had on her life, recognizing it as the greatest mistake she had ever made.
Mack was one of six individuals charged with sex trafficking, forced labor, racketeering, wire fraud, and other crimes related to their involvement with NXIVM. Prosecutors revealed that Mack had recruited young women into NXIVM by presenting it as a mentorship opportunity for females, only to subject them to sexual servitude under Raniere's control. Many women within the organization suffered severe abuse and were subjected to starvation diets.
Among the other prominent members of NXIVM were Clare Bronfman, an heiress to the Seagram's liquor fortune, and a daughter of TV star Catherine Oxenberg, known for her role in the TV series Dynasty.
Allison Mack is most recognized for her portrayal of Chloe Sullivan, the close friend of Clark Kent, in the superhero television series Smallville.
In 2020, Keith Raniere was sentenced to 120 years in prison after being convicted of sex trafficking charges. NXIVM, a self-proclaimed "self-help" organization based in New York, suspended its operations in 2018 following the revelations and legal actions taken against its leaders and members.
