Exploring Giants WR Cole Beasley's Remarks on COVID-19 Vaccine: Fact Check on Anti-Vaxxer Claims
Cole Beasley, wide receiver for the New York Giants, is not an anti-vaxxer despite vaccine skepticism.
In June 2021, Cole Beasley, the new signing for the New York Giants, expressed his thoughts on Covid-19 vaccines through a series of tweets. While his statement may appear to align with the beliefs of an anti-vaxxer, it is important to note that Beasley does not fall into that category.
However, Beasley faced controversy in August 2021 when he was fined by the NFL for violating its mask policy for unvaccinated players. It is worth mentioning that Beasley is not the only vaccine skeptic in the National Football League, as there are several other players who share this stance.
Now, let's shift our focus to Beasley's NFL career. Before making his mark in the league, he stood out at SMU, earning Second-team All-C-USA honors in 2010. Despite his impressive performance, he went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft. However, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys and managed to secure a spot on the main roster for the 2012 NFL season based on his preseason camp performances.
During his seven-year tenure with the Cowboys, Beasley showcased his skills and consistently put up WR2-caliber numbers. Although he was never a starter, his contributions to the team were significant. In 2019, he made the move to the Buffalo Bills, where he started for most of his initial three-year spell. Beasley's time in Buffalo was marked by consistent performance, with at least 690 receiving yards per season and 11 touchdowns.
However, in the 2022 offseason, Beasley's future with the Bills became uncertain, leading to his release on March 17, 2022. Following his release, he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad and briefly made it to the main squad for a game against the Green Bay Packers. However, he was soon demoted back to the practice squad. Unexpectedly, Beasley retired from the NFL on October 5, 2022.
But Beasley's retirement was short-lived, as he made a return to the NFL in December 2022, rejoining the Buffalo Bills for depth purposes. He was subsequently signed to the 53-man active roster on January 12, 2023. Currently, Beasley is a part of the New York Giants, having joined their roster on July 21, 2023.
