Trump described McConnell's health scare as "sad" and criticized his record, particularly his support for recent infrastructure packages. Trump accused McConnell of allocating funds to the Green New Deal, which he viewed as a waste of money.

The tension between Trump and McConnell has been ongoing since the events of January 6, 2021. Trump has consistently attacked McConnell, even suggesting that McConnell had a "death wish" for supporting a bipartisan electoral reform bill after Trump's failed attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

Nikki Haley, who is trailing behind Ron DeSantis in the Republican presidential race, also called for McConnell to step down during an interview with CBS News. Haley has been advocating for mental fitness exams for older lawmakers, including Trump, as she positions herself as a representative of a new generation of leaders.

Haley emphasized the need for new solutions and generational leaders, urging older politicians to know when to retire. She mentioned McConnell, along with other prominent figures like Dianne Feinstein, Joe Biden, and Nancy Pelosi, as examples of individuals who should consider stepping down. Haley expressed her support for term limits as a means of encouraging new leadership.

While Trump and Haley's concerns about McConnell's health incident are valid, it is important to consider their motivations. Both individuals have a history of criticizing McConnell, and their comments may not solely stem from genuine concern for his well-being.
