'Lil Tay social media accounts hacked, not dead: report'
Rapper Lil Tay denies rumors of her death after her Instagram account was hacked and used to spread false information.
Rapper Lil Tay, who was previously reported dead, has now come forward to confirm that she is very much alive. According to TMZ, Lil Tay released a statement through her family, stating that her Instagram account was hacked by a third party who spread false information about her and her brother's death. The statement, written from the perspective of the 14-year-old rapper, expressed her heartbreak and trauma over the situation. Lil Tay, whose real name is Tay Tian, revealed that she was bombarded with phone calls from concerned loved ones trying to make sense of the situation. The false post has since been removed from her Instagram account.
Lil Tay gained fame in 2018 for her foulmouthed videos and Instagram posts where she flaunted designer clothes and luxury cars. Her videos caught the attention of fellow YouTubers Jake Paul and Danielle "Bhad Bhabie" Bregoli, as well as rapper Snoop Dogg. However, Snoop Dogg publicly criticized Lil Tay's act in 2018. Despite the controversy surrounding her persona, Lil Tay insisted in a 2018 interview with "Good Morning America" that she was not being forced into her social media presence and that her mother was not exploiting her. She stated that she was happy with what she was doing.
It is important to note that a previous version of this story published on August 9th falsely reported Lil Tay's death. The rapper has not yet responded to The Times' request for comment on the situation.
