Trump says Georgia indictment comes during dark period for US, vows to fix it by winning
Former President Trump has been indicted for the fourth time in the Georgia probe into alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, former President Trump expressed his determination to win the 2024 presidential election and "Make America Great Again," despite facing his fourth indictment. The indictment comes as a result of the Georgia probe into alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
Trump, along with more than a dozen others, including his former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and his former attorneys Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, Kenneth Chesebro, Jeff Clark, and John Eastman, has been charged with various offenses. These include violating the Georgia RICO Act, solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer, conspiracy to commit impersonation of a public officer, conspiracy to commit forgery, filing false documents, and more.
Trump criticized Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, calling her racist and corrupt. He accused her of using the indictment to benefit herself politically and claimed that it was a continuation of the ongoing witch hunt against him. Trump also blamed Biden for allowing crime, violence, and other issues to escalate in the country.
Trump argued that Willis should focus on investigating the alleged rigging of the 2020 presidential election instead of targeting him. He believes that the indictment was strategically timed to disrupt his political campaign, where he claims to be leading all Republicans and beating Joe Biden in most polls.
This indictment marks the first time a former U.S. president has faced criminal charges. Trump has previously been indicted in relation to the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, and for the alleged improper retention of classified records from his presidency. Additionally, he faces charges in New York related to hush-money payments made during the 2016 campaign.
Willis has given Trump and the other defendants until August 25 to surrender. She expressed her desire for a trial to take place within six months, potentially coinciding with the GOP presidential primaries in February 2024.
