Christian McCaffrey and 49ers Extend Winning Streak to 13, Defeat Giants 30-12
The San Francisco 49ers won their 13th straight regular season game, beating the New York Giants 30-12.
The San Francisco 49ers secured their 13th consecutive regular season victory with a 30-12 win over the New York Giants on Thursday night. Despite facing a barrage of blitzes from the Giants, the 49ers were able to get the ball to their playmakers and execute their game plan. Christian McCaffrey continued his impressive scoring streak, finding the end zone for the 12th straight game. Deebo Samuel also contributed with a touchdown catch, while quarterback Brock Purdy threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns. The 49ers' offense wasn't at its best early on, but big plays from Samuel and George Kittle helped them secure the win. McCaffrey ran for 85 yards and added 34 receiving yards, scoring on a 4-yard run in the second quarter. This touchdown matched Jerry Rice's franchise record for scoring in consecutive games. The 49ers' defense did an excellent job of containing the short-handed Giants, who struggled to move the ball without star running back Saquon Barkley and injured offensive linemen Andrew Thomas and Ben Bredeson. The Giants managed just 150 yards of offense and could only muster two field goals in the first half. Quarterback Daniel Jones struggled to find a rhythm and was intercepted once. Despite the victory, the 49ers' offense got off to a slow start, trailing 17-6 at halftime. This has been a recurring issue for the Giants, who have fallen behind by double digits at halftime in all three of their games this season. The Giants will look to bounce back when they host the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, October 2, while the 49ers will face the Arizona Cardinals on October 1.
