Cardwell was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in January and had been undergoing treatment, including chemotherapy. She shared updates on her progress on social media, showing her resilience and determination in the face of her illness.

In addition to "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," Cardwell also appeared on "Toddlers & Tiaras" and was a beloved member of her family, as evidenced by the heartfelt messages from her sister, Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, and her mother.
