Liverpool knock Arsenal out of FA Cup, Man City cruise: late strike

Liverpool's 2-0 win over Arsenal and Manchester City's 5-0 victory are the highlights of the FA Cup third round.

Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the headline FA Cup third round tie, with an own goal by Jakub Kiwior and a late strike by Luis Diaz sealing the win. The hosts, Arsenal, missed several chances in the first half, with Liverpool captain Trent Alexander-Arnold's free kick glancing off Kiwior's head in the 80th minute. Diaz then scored in stoppage time, securing Liverpool's place in the fourth round draw.

Earlier on Sunday, Manchester City won 5-0 against Huddersfield Town, with Phil Foden scoring twice and Kevin De Bruyne returning to action after a four-month injury layoff.

Arsenal, who have now lost three games in a row, struggled with finishing and squandered several first-half chances. Liverpool, without key players Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, also had their fair share of missed opportunities.

In the second half, Arsenal continued to make chances, but Liverpool's Aaron Ramsdale saved a shot from Diaz and Diogo Jota hit the crossbar before Kiwior's own goal. Diaz then scored a late, unstoppable shot, securing the win for Liverpool.

In another match, Luton Town drew 0-0 against third-tier Bolton Wanderers, while Nottingham Forest also drew 2-2 against third-tier Blackpool. West Ham United were held to a 1-1 draw at home to second-tier Bristol City.

Overall, it was a weekend of intense FA Cup action, with Liverpool and Manchester City securing dominant wins, while other Premier League sides struggled to secure victories.
