The impact of the storm was evident in Panama City Beach, Florida, where roofs had been blown away, debris was scattered, and a house was left tilted on its side, leaning against another home. In nearby Panama City, police urged residents to stay indoors and off the roads as they assessed the damage, including downed power lines and trees.
Bay County, where Panama City is located, experienced multiple tornadoes on the ground, according to Sheriff Tommy Ford. Photos posted by the sheriff's department showed crumpled structures and debris, prompting a plea for people to stay home and allow first responders to do their work.
The Walton County sheriff's department also posted images of damage, including power lines strewn across a road and a gas station affected by the storm. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis activated the Florida State Guard to prepare for any storm-related impacts, as schools in the region closed and over 140,000 customers were left without power in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia.
