Ryan Gosling on Oscars snubbing Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig - GG2
Ananya Panday makes international runway debut. Ryan Gosling disappointed over Barbie director Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie Oscar snub.
Bollywood actress Ananya Panday has made her international runway debut, while Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling expressed disappointment that Barbie director Greta Gerwig and lead actress Margot Robbie were not nominated in two major categories at the 2024 Academy Awards.
Gosling, who played Ken opposite Robbie's Barbie in Gerwig's 2022 movie based on the iconic Mattel doll, received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor, but expressed his disappointment that Gerwig was overlooked for Best Director and Robbie was not nominated for Best Actress. The film received a total of eight nominations, including twin nods in the Best Original Song category, but Gosling believes that the movie's success is incomplete without recognition for Gerwig and Robbie's "talent, grit, and genius."
He also expressed his happiness for co-star America Ferrera, who received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and praised her and other artists who contributed to making the film a groundbreaking success.
Ferrera, who portrayed an executive at Mattel in Barbie, also criticized the Academy for not recognizing Gerwig and Robbie, saying that Gerwig deserved the nomination for creating a global phenomenon and that Robbie's performance as an actress was truly unbelievable.
The 96th Academy Awards will be held on March 10 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles, with Jimmy Kimmel returning to host the ceremony for the second consecutive year.
