Tornado watch issued for eastern Nebraska until 7 p.m. Severe weather expected, including large hail, strong tornadoes, and flash flooding.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the eastern half of the state, including the Lincoln area, until 7 p.m. Severe weather is expected across the area, with potential hazards including large hail up to 3 inches in diameter, wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour, flash flooding, and a few strong tornadoes.
The best time frame for severe storms is between 2-8 p.m., with the Lincoln area likely to experience storms between 2-5 p.m. Several severe thunderstorm warnings have already been issued in parts of Nebraska, with reports of tornadoes on the ground near Rockville in Sherman County and near Cotesfield in Howard County.
Lincoln experienced non-severe storms Thursday night and Friday morning, bringing more than half an inch of rain. There is also a potential for severe weather in Southeast Nebraska on Saturday.
