Shaq Reacts Ex-Wife Statement Never Loved Him
NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal responds to ex-wife's doubts about love, admits understanding her feelings, wishing her well. Viral reconciliation message.
NBA icon Shaquille O'Neal had a profound reaction to comments made by his former wife and "Basketball Wives" executive producer, Shaunie Henderson, who expressed uncertainty about whether she ever truly loved him.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, O'Neal conveyed that he not only comprehended Henderson's doubts about her past emotions towards him, but that he would have questioned his own feelings as well. "I understand... I wouldn't have been in love with me either," he shared in a heartfelt statement on his social media account.
Adding a touch of warmth, he continued with a heart emoji, saying, "Wishing you all the best... All love, Shaq." Emphasizing his understanding, he reiterated in the post's caption, "Trust me I get it."
While O'Neal did not directly mention Henderson in his post, his response followed closely after Essence revealed an excerpt from her new book, "Undefeated: Changing the Rules and Winning on my Own Terms," where she pondered if she was ever truly in love with the basketball legend.
Reflecting on their relationship, Henderson wrote, "Looking back, I don't know that I was ever really in love with the man, but I was in love with the idea of being married to the man I had a family with." She added, "I was in love with the idea of building a life together. I truly did enjoy spending time with him."
The couple tied the knot in 2002 and finalized their divorce settlement in 2010 after separating in the previous year. They are proud parents to four children: sons Shareef and Shaqir, and daughters Amirah and Me'arah.
In addition to his children with Henderson, O'Neal also has an eldest daughter, Taahirah, from a previous relationship. He has embraced the role of a parent to Henderson's eldest son, Myles, from her past partnership.
Henderson has since found happiness with her current husband and pastor, Keion Henderson, whom she married in 2022. Describing married life as "amazing," she expressed that her husband is her "best friend."
During an appearance on the "Tamron Hall Show" in 2021, Shaunie Henderson celebrated the "great" co-parenting dynamic she shares with O'Neal, acknowledging that the journey was not without its challenges.
O'Neal has openly spoken about regrets stemming from his marriage to Henderson. In a 2022 episode of his podcast, "The Big Podcast with Shaq," he candidly admitted to being a "serial cheater," expressing remorse for the impact his actions had on his family and the time he missed with his children.
Through their shared experiences and reflections, O'Neal and Henderson continue to navigate the complexities of their past relationship with grace and understanding, focusing on growth and moving forward with love and respect.
