Olivia Munn undergoes full hysterectomy
Actress Olivia Munn reveals fifth surgery, hysterectomy, in battle against breast cancer to be present for her family.
In a recent interview with Vogue, Olivia Munn shared the news that she had undergone a fifth surgery in her battle against an aggressive form of breast cancer. This time, she had a hysterectomy, removing her uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. The decision to undergo this surgery was not taken lightly, but Munn felt it was necessary in order to be present for her family.
Prior to the hysterectomy, Munn had been taking Lupron, an estrogen-suppressing drug that left her feeling drained of energy. The debilitating exhaustion caused by the medication was taking a toll on her, to the point where she would wake up in the morning only to need to return to bed almost immediately. This was particularly difficult for Munn as her young son, Malcolm, noticed the change in her energy levels. He associated her with being in bed, which was both heartwarming and heartbreaking for Munn.
This latest surgery adds to the list of procedures Munn has undergone since her diagnosis in March. She had previously had a full double mastectomy, lymph-node dissection, reconstructive surgery, and a nipple delay. Additionally, Munn has frozen her eggs three times at different stages in her life, as she and her partner, John Mulaney, were uncertain about the impact of potential chemotherapy or radiation on their plans to expand their family.
Despite a moment of panic following the hysterectomy, Munn is relieved to be on the path to feeling normal again. She described this surgery as her fifth and hopefully final procedure in her fight against breast cancer. Throughout this challenging journey, Munn has shown incredible strength and resilience, prioritizing her health and well-being for the sake of herself and her loved ones.
