Get ready for the highly anticipated sequel to Tim Burton's iconic 1988 film "Beetlejuice" - it's showtime! The first full-length trailer for "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" was released on Thursday, May 23, and fans are in for a treat.
The new film picks up with the Deetz family following the death of patriarch Charles Deetz, played by Jeffrey Jones in the original movie. Jenna Ortega stars as Astrid, who bravely summons Beetlejuice, portrayed by the legendary Michael Keaton, despite her mother's, played by Winona Ryder, warnings.
The trailer kicks off with Lydia Deetz, played by Ryder, cautioning viewers that what they are about to see is intense. The official synopsis teases a story that focuses on three generations of the Deetz family returning home to Winter River after a tragic event. Lydia's life takes a chaotic turn when her rebellious teenage daughter discovers a mysterious portal to the afterlife, leading to Beetlejuice's mischievous return and the unleashing of his unique brand of chaos.
The film introduces new characters such as Beetlejuice's wife, played by Monica Bellucci, a cop from the afterlife, portrayed by Willem Dafoe, and Rory, played by Justin Theroux. Filming took place primarily in Vermont, with exterior locations captured in Melrose. Despite facing challenges due to writers' and actors' strikes, the dedicated crew returned to Massachusetts in November to complete the shoot.
"Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice" marks the reunion of Ortega and Burton, who previously collaborated on the popular Netflix series "Wednesday." The screenplay was penned by "Wednesday" showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, adding to the excitement surrounding the film's release.
Get ready to summon Beetlejuice once again when the film hits theaters on Friday, September 6. Don't miss out on the latest updates by following Daily Voice Fairfield for all the news and behind-the-scenes insights.
