Trevor Lawrence injury update: Jaguars QB active and will start Thursday night's game vs Saints
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is active for Week 7 after suffering a knee injury in their previous game.
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence sustained a left knee injury during their recent victory against the Indianapolis Colts. There were concerns about his availability for their upcoming Week 7 matchup against the Saints, but the Jaguars have now confirmed that Lawrence will be active for the game.
Head coach Doug Pederson had previously stated that Lawrence's participation would depend on his pregame workout. Fortunately, the evaluation went well, and Lawrence is ready to lead his team in their quest for a 5-2 record this season.
During the week leading up to the game, Lawrence was limited in practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. He was officially listed as questionable for Thursday's game. However, Lawrence expressed optimism about his chances of playing, stating that he felt better and was progressing positively.
Lawrence suffered the knee injury late in the fourth quarter, and backup quarterback C.J. Beathard took over for the remainder of the game. Pederson described Lawrence's status as "day-to-day" and acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his availability due to the short week of preparation.
Pederson referenced a similar situation from last year when Lawrence was injured but managed to play the following week. Despite being limited in practice, Lawrence threw three touchdowns and helped secure a 14-point victory.
Throughout his professional career, Lawrence has never missed a game. In the six games he has played this year, Lawrence has a record of 4-2 and has thrown for 1,439 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions. His average of 239.8 passing yards per game ranks him 11th in the NFL.
Now, Lawrence and the Jaguars are focused on their matchup against the Saints, who are aiming to bounce back from a loss to the Texans in Week 6.
