Kenny Pickett ankle injury forces Steelers game exit
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett injured his ankle during Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, leaving his return uncertain.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett was injured during the second quarter of Sunday's home game against the Arizona Cardinals. Pickett was scrambling on a third-and-goal from the 3 when he was stopped just short on a dive for the goal line and absorbed a hit. He limped off the field and was being evaluated in the sideline medical tent for a lower-body injury, appearing to favor his right ankle.
The Steelers confirmed that Pickett had an ankle injury and that his return to the game was questionable. He was replaced by Mitch Trubisky, and running back Najee Harris was stopped on the ensuing fourth-down play as the Arizona defense preserved a 3-3 tie.
Pickett was on the injury report this week because of an ankle injury, but he did not miss any practice time. This marks the third game this season that Pickett was forced to leave due to injury, and he was also knocked out of two games and missed another full game as a rookie in 2022.
In addition to Pickett, two other Steelers starters were injured during the game. Elandon Roberts is out because of a groin injury, and guard Isaac Seumalo suffered a shoulder injury on the same play Pickett was injured. Roberts left the game for a time but came back in before leaving it again and being ruled out. Mark Robinson took Roberts' place in the middle of the defense, and Nate Herbig came in at left guard for Seumalo.
