Coco Gauff worked with Andy Roddick on serve before Australian Open

Coco Gauff worked with Andy Roddick to reconfigure her serve, aiming to build on her US Open triumph and win more titles.

Coco Gauff recently revealed that she worked with Andy Roddick, the last man from the US to win a singles grand slam title, during the off-season to reconfigure her service motion as she looks to build on last year's US Open triumph and compete for more major titles. Gauff stated that it was a really cool experience and that she believes her serve has improved as a result of the work she did with Roddick. She emphasized the importance of continuing to trust the work she put in during the off-season.

Gauff's first serve has been recognized as one of the biggest in the world, but she still has room to improve its precision and consistency, as well as her inconsistent second serve. During her time with Roddick and her coach, Brad Gilbert, they worked on simplifying her motion, resulting in a more abbreviated and smoother swing.

Roddick, who won his only grand slam title at the 2003 US Open, is known as one of the best servers in history, particularly on the American side. Gauff expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work with Roddick, stating that she couldn't have chosen anyone better to help her with her serve.

Since her first-round loss at Wimbledon last year, Gauff has been on a successful run, winning titles in Cincinnati and Washington in addition to the US Open. She has continued her winning streak at the start of this season, defending her Auckland title and remaining undefeated with a 6-0 record. Gauff will face Caroline Dolehide in the second round of the Australian Open.

In addition to her tennis career, Gauff also discussed her relationships with her younger brothers, Codey and Cameron, and how their ambivalence to her career helps to keep her grounded. She emphasized the importance of these relationships in reminding her of her value beyond her performance on the court.

In other Australian Open news, Marketa Vondrousova, the Wimbledon champion and seventh seed, suffered a defeat in the first round, while Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas both advanced to the second round in the men's draw.
